Fairport's Canal Days Festival

This weekend in the Annual 'Canal Days' Festival. It is the Annual "kick-off' Festival of Summer. The First in the Rochester Area. It is similar to an Arts and Crafts Show, with Music, Food and Lots and Lots of People added in.

Vendor "stalls" line Main Street and fill the Town Parking Lots. Interesting Food and Pottery Items abound as well...

It IS very much similar to the Two Annual Pottery Festivals I attended in Beroun, CZ.. ...

Wish you could experience this one. It is fun to go to.

Police Cars in the US

Yes, just like you see in the Movies; American Police Cars are Large.

Powered usually by a 4.6 L V-8 engine, with 250 bhp, many come with enhanced and formidable front bumper extensions, so if needed they can force a vehicle off the road by bumping into it.

Comparing these standard Police cruisers to ones used in Prague... well there is no comparison. Ours are huge; Yours are tiny.

The other difference: It seemed there was usually at least two other officers, plus the driver in a Prague Police car when ever it zipped by. Here, there is usually only One Officer, the driver.

I always would shudder when I saw the Prague Police (top picture) speeding in their small Skodas down some wet cobblestone street at break neck speed. ...and I wondered, when I would see tourists and Praguers alike along with those hired to protect and serve splattered all over some building or sidewalk due to their unnecessary speed.

Summer Ice Cream American Style

This is the typical SMALL ice cream cone. I stop once in awhile at an ice cream store called: Abbotts. This one was $3.25 USD or about 56 czk.

In Prague, it seemed that a small or single scoop is usually less than 20 korun, and when compared to this photo, a single scoop is a very very small portion. A strong reason why people are much smaller in the Czech Republic.

This is Vanilla Custard and not actually ice cream. The difference: By definition, frozen custard is ‘super premium ice cream’ which contains at least 10% Milkfat(which is a LOT!) and has a larger proportion of egg yolks, thereby giving it a smoother/creamier, more velvety texture than traditional ice cream. It also has a slower production time and incorporates less air into the ice cream.

...and the calories: about 300 in a 5oz serving. I don't know how many oz this one is in the photo, but it's a small. ;-) You should see the Large cones... wow !
